Abstract paintings by Alexis Toublanc – Contemporary visual art

A frozen ascent in matter. Vertical reliefs rise like columns, in a quiet tension between structure and freedom. A fragmented mark breaks the rhythm — a trace of gravity, a pause in the climb.

A silent script, carved rather than written. "Keimeno" — Greek for "text" — reads like an archive with no fixed meaning: chiselled lines, a rhythm close to language, a message left for the eye to decode.

Faint lines cross a pale surface, like wind on sand or the memory of water. "DME" holds a single gesture, barely there — the quiet trace of a passage.

Reliefs shaped like eroded stone, a landscape carved by time. "UOON2" shifts with the light — dense in shadow, almost weightless under the sun.

'Orama' — Greek for "view" — reads like a horizon: ridges, waves, or scattered sand, held in white. A landscape left open to whoever looks.

Layered textures fold in on themselves, like a thought turning over its own questions. Nothing here is resolved — everything is suggested.

A quieter companion to UOON2: eroded forms, a shoreline erased and redrawn. White holds the tension between presence and disappearance.

A face seems to form in the matter — a guardian with almost mythical features, carrying a discreet sign to its mouth, like a withheld message. Turning the canvas, the face dissolves: the same lines become a dark ridge, an island rising from deep blue, glimpsed as if from the open sea. Two readings, one surface.

Deep blue against raw white, textures cut sharp by contrast. "Ultra" doesn't settle — it holds a kind of charge, somewhere between calm and force.

Two rhythms of texture, dense and open, answering each other like a conversation without words. Marks instead of sentences, silences instead of pauses.

Light caught on moving water — turquoise fading into indigo, reliefs like ripples frozen mid-motion. A calm, hypnotic surface.

Deep blue textures that seem to breathe, crossed by fine lines like currents or wind. A window left ajar onto something larger.
